The COVID-19 pandemic influence on the Philippines

The COVID-19 pandemic also has influence on the situation in the Philippines.

In some parts of the Philippines there is a complete lockdown, but this mainly concerns the business areas of Manilla and Cebu City and not necessarily the Davao area where most banana chips factories are located. Despite this employees are being encouraged to work from home and some processes (production, transportation, custom controls and ports etc.) However, some factories are running below capacity, mainly due to implications that COVID has had on public transport limiting amount of people able to get into work to (preventive) private quarantine cases.

As a result of this, Philippine Banana Chips suppliers exports are still possible but the production and shipment dates might be slightly less punctual compared to normal and only at high price levels, going up to USD$1.25/lb. for Whole Banana Chips and up to USD$1.10/lb. for Broken Banana Chips CFR European Main Ports.
