In Europe, the spot market for pecan halves is very scarce because shipments have been delayed over the last 2 months. Halves of especially high quality are barely offered at all. The immediate coverage of spot needs is advisable.

There are reports in the countries of origin that the Mexican crop was extremely disappointing compared to last year and current shipping figures suggest a very firm price pattern. This crop season, the Eastern American recovery would probably not be able to make up the shortfall.

On a more positive note, pieces and other materials are more readily accessible on the spot. There seems to be a large amount of brokers and bits across the globe that the savvy product creators and buyers are starting to interest.
