Turkish Figs Market Update
Mundus Agri. In the Turkish growing region of Aydin, the weather does not bring any unpleasant surprises for the crop. In the export market, meanwhile, there were unexpected massive price corrections.
Weather situation remains favourable
The Turkish dried fig market remains sluggish for the time being and the weather in the Aydin province offers nothing that could not be expected at the beginning of April. While farmgate prices are holding their level, export prices saw massive corrections this week. According to reports, growers have completely divested themselves of their supplies and the quantities still available are in the warehouses of the exporters.
Rising exports to the USA and China
According to market players, exports to countries such as the USA, China and the Far East have increased, while shipments to the EU remain stable. The latest weekly exports of 1,344 mt were about 200 mt above those of the same week last year. In total, exports since the beginning of this season amount to 49,144 mt of dried figs and dried fig products, up 5% year-on-year.
