Turkish Sultana Raisin Market Update 03.11.26
Strong Demand Supports Prices Despite Larger 2026 Crop
The Turkish sultana raisin market is entering the 2026/27 season with a significantly improved supply outlook. Industry estimates suggest the 2026 Turkish raisin crop could reach approximately 300,000 metric tonnes, representing a substantial recovery after three consecutive smaller harvests and a return towards more typical production levels.
Despite expectations of increased supply, the flow of new-crop Turkish raisins into commercial channels has been slower than anticipated. Extended harvesting and drying periods, combined with growers holding stock in anticipation of firmer prices, have limited early market availability. As a result, November and December registration figures will be closely watched by importers, processors and wholesale buyers seeking clarity on supply levels.
Turkish Raisin Prices Remain Firm
Contrary to expectations, Turkish sultana raisin prices have remained stable throughout October. Although export offers are around 30% lower than last season, the market continues to find support from strong export demand, limited free-market availability and ongoing purchasing activity by the Turkish Grain Board (TMO).
Many growers have been reluctant to sell at current market levels, reducing available stocks and helping to maintain a firm pricing environment. Export demand from international food manufacturers, bakery producers and wholesale ingredient buyers has also remained healthy, supporting market sentiment.
Quality Improvements Benefit Global Buyers
A key development this season has been the introduction of stricter quality inspection procedures by TMO. Growers must now meet higher standards to qualify for official purchase programmes, encouraging the production of cleaner, more consistent fruit.
For buyers of wholesale raisins, dried fruits, and food ingredients, these measures are expected to improve product quality, food safety compliance and supply chain reliability over the long term.
Market Outlook
The outlook for the Turkish raisin market remains cautiously firm. While a larger crop should improve availability during the season, strong export demand and slow early deliveries may continue to support prices in the short term. Buyers should monitor upcoming registration data closely, as it will provide the clearest indication of exportable supplies and future market direction.
